Part 1 of 4: Leading with Heart
In July, I went on my first mission trip to Puerto Rico with Thirst Missions. I was amazed by the leadership that Thirst Missions had serving in Puerto Rico. Emily, Erica, Allison, and Jeschell led an unbelivable week of service, worship, and justice that flowed very smoothly. As a former youth leader and a long time mission trip leader I have never been a part of a trip that was so well prepared and organized.
The leadership of these four women allowed two mission teams to come together as one group to serve for and grow closer with God. All of us were new to Puerto Rico but we never felt unsafe or insecure. They were always there if we need them and they guided us through projects and experiencing new things. Each of them shared the gifts God had given them with our group in ways that were life changing for us.
Throughout the whole trip they led with passion and enthusiasm. The leadership of these three women brought the words of Timothy to life. They did no let their youthfulness get in the way of allowing them to set an example for us in their speech and conduct, in their love for others, and in their faith in God (1 Timothy 4:12).
